Security: Pickets to be phased out

CCPO Tahir said senior officers should step out of their offices to listen to people’s problems and solve them.

LAHORE:

The pickets set up throughout the city for security checks will be phased out, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir said on Sunday.

He was addressing a press conference at his office.

CCPO Tahir said senior officers should step out of their offices to listen to people’s problems and solve them. He said a police station should inspire relief and not fear. “All law-abiding citizens should feel a sense of protection when they talk about police,” he said. He said strict action would be taken against officials found behaving rudely with complainants.

CCPO Tahir directed the divisional superintendents of police to carry out regular surveys of their areas so that surveillance could be improved. He said the SPs should ensure that patrolling staff was performing their duties.

The CCPO said efforts should be made to arrest wanted criminals and proclaimed offenders.
