Deepika Padukone has confirmed that she would be part of a superhero film. The actor, who turned producer with Meghna Gulzar's upcoming film Chhapaak, said that she is developing the superhero project with a friend.

The actress told Filmfare, "Yes, I’m working on it. I hope it happens. There’s no script as yet. It’s something my friend and I are developing. I was in the plane with a friend from the industry and talking about the movies we’d like to make. We realised that this superhero film is something we’d like to make. It’s a seed we’re nurturing.”

While India has seen male superheroes in Ra One, Drona and Krrish, this will be the first time a female superhero will be witnessed in an Indian film.

On the work front, Deepika will play the lead role alongside Vikrant Massey in filmmaker Meghna Gulzar's next, where the actress will portray Laxmi Agarwal, an acid attack survivor.
