2018 was the year of vows, I do’s and wedding festivities. As the year comes to an end, we have complied some of the most memorable weddings of the year. From surprise weddings to over-the-top nuptials, this year had it all. From royal weddings to celebrity weddings, many couples said “I do” in lavish ceremonies and intimate affairs. Here are some of the couples who took the plunge in 2018!

PM Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi – February



Prime Minister Imran Khan and first lady Bushra Bibi solemnised their union in February this year. The nuptials were carried out in a very intimate ceremony with only a few close relatives present at the nikkah. Bushra Bibi who is Khan’s third wife was draped head to toe in a nude coloured veil with a hint of red to symbolise her bridal status. Bushra Bibi is also Khan’s spiritual guide.

Feroze Khan and Alizey Khan - March



The couple wed on the March 30 at a private and heavily guarded venue. The bride glowed in a traditional red bridal by HSY on the nikkah while Feroze wore a white silk sherwani and paired it with a traditional red turban to match Alizey’s outfit. The nuptials were said to be an arranged marriage yet the duo goes on to melt hearts with their amazing bond.

Major Uqbah and Aisha Khan- April



Aisha Khan announced her wedding with fiancé Major Uqbah Malik via Instagram. The wedding was a five-day celebration which included a mayun, mehndi, nikkah, shaadi and valima. The bride chose to keep all her ensembles simple and elegant paired with minimalistic make-up and jewels. Aisha was every bit of beautiful in a worked gold ensemble while Major Uqbah stood tall in his Army uniform at their reception.

Anand Ahuja and Sonam Kapoor - May



Sonam Kpoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding was a two-day ceremony which included a mehndi and sangeet with a grand reception the following day. Sonam wore an Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla outfit on her mehndi while Anand was seen in an off-white bandhgala suit. For the wedding, the bride opted for a traditional red lengha choli by Anuradha Vakil pairing it with traditional jewellery.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone - November



Probably one of the most-awaited weddings of the year! Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone tied the knot on November 14 at Villa Del Balbianello in Lake Como, Italy. The bride and groom donned tradition looks for the wedding festivities and hosted two receptions in India. The couple was styled by Sabyasachi for their Bengaluru reception in traditional colour-coordinated outfits while the duo opted to put on a regal avatar for the Mumbai reception. Deepika dazzled in a shimmery gold and white Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla ensemble while Ranveer wore a worked white and gold sherwani designed by Rohit Bal.

Muneeb Butt and Aiman Khan- November



Aiman Khan and Muneeb Butt’s wedding undoubtedly became the longest wedding in Pakistan this year. Aiman looked radiant in a red and gold Erum Khan Couture ensemble paired with statement jewels and a dramatic make-up look on her reception, while Muneeb donned an embroidered sherwani in gold hues by HSY. The duo also hosted a ‘Let’s Be Filmy’ themed wedding party after their nikkah.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - May



The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said their vows on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.  The fairytale ceremony was broadcasted on television and was witnessed the world over. Meghan Markle wore a crisp white wedding dress featuring a boat neck before changing into a modern halter-neck gown for the reception.  The classic wedding dress was designed by British fashion designer Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of the fashion house Givenchy.

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra - December



Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ wedding was another one of the most awaited weddings of the year. The couple solemnised their union on December 1. For the Hindu ceremony, the bride wore a deep red lengha choli by Sabyasachi featuring heavy embroidery. For the Christian wedding Chopra wore a custom Ralph Lauren gown that featured floral and scroll motifs and lace-effect tulle appliqués with scalloped sleeves. She topped off her ensemble with a 75 feet long tulle veil.
