Trend Report 2019

Here’s the list of trends we’re so ready to bid adieu to and the ones we’re welcoming with open arms!

December 31, 2018

It’s almost 2019, which means we’re ready to welcome new trends and ditch the old. While some trends have been done to death, others should never have been a trend in the first place. Here’s the list of trends we’re so ready to bid adieu to and the ones we’re welcoming with open arms!

Ditch The Trend

Small Sized Sunnies

Say good-bye to your tiny sunnies! Often seen flaunted by A-listers, theMatrix inspired sunglasses need to die the coming year. Don’t get us wrong, Matrix has been one of our favourite movies, but these sunglasses are super unflattering on most faces. Plus we all know the more sun protection the better! So let’s put the Matrix-inspired sunglasses where they belong- 1999!

Crop Tops

This trend needs to die an immediate and painful death! They have been done to death and we cannot stand the sight of anyone sporting this trend anymore. They’ve been in stores, online, worn by many celebrities and friends and have even made their way to wedding attire. *Major eye roll*

Athleisure

Not everyone will agree, but this trend has to go! The trend was at its peak this past year with celebrities and models flaunting it as street wear and soon the streets were full of crowds sporting this trend. But now it has become boring and honestly doesn’t even come in the category of casual smart. So let’s all agree to leave the aethleisure wear where it belongs- the gym!

Extreme Highlights

Thanks but we’ll pass! We’re so over seeing every Pakistani woman flaunt gold locks! There’s no denying that while some were able to pull it off really well, it didn’t suit the majority. 2019 is all about embracing your individuality and not look as if everyone was manufactured in the same factory!

Mules

Yes, yes everyone made a statement with mules this year, be it plain, embroidered, metallic or any other variation. It’s actually now been overdone and the 2018 footwear is ready for retirement - pronto!

PVC

*Cringe* Plastic is already hated by environmentalists because of the damage they cause to the society and now it’s hated by us for the damage they are causing to our eyes! Yes, they were a big hit in 2018 but it is definitely not a trend we wish would live a second longer! Do us all a favour and disown every PVC fashion item you own, shoes, bags, belts maybe even raincoats?

Adopt The Trend

The Middle Parting

Don’t say we didn’t give you a heads up! This trend is already catching on like wildfire! From Kim Kardashian to Deepika Padukone, A-listers have already started to adopt this hair trend. The sleek middle parting can be styled in various ways from hair let down to buns, this trend suits all face cuts and shapes and gives you a clean and polished look!

Colour Of The Year - Living Coral

Brace yourself; Living Coral is going to take over your life very soon. From clothes to shoes to household items, Living Coral will be dominating your life as the IT colour! We’re a bit skeptical but also excited to see how brands and designers will choose to incorporate it in their coming collections! If you want to stay on trend, it’s time to adopt this colour!

Animal Print

Animal print gets another shot in 2019! However, it’s not only the leopard print that’s made a comeback, everyone has fallen in love with all sorts of animal prints from snakes to zebras to tigers! So be ready to walk onto the wild side and let the animal print do the talking!

Berry Lips

Berry lips are going to be major in 2019! Even though berry lips become very popular in winter, the coming year they will be trending throughout the year! So start looking for the perfect berry shade ASAP!

Tool Belts

Tool belts- the ultimate style accessory that is practical and chic! Tool belts dominated the fashion weeks with full force! From Prada to Fendi, everyone introduced their own version- from leather to sportier nylon, we are eager to see how this trend will shape street style! Bonus points for introducing a separate pocket for basic accessories like sunglasses to lipsticks- solving the issue of having to rummage through your bag every single time!

Tie and Dye

Stuff that was once a thing of elementary arts and crafts class is taking the fashion world by storm! The contemporary tie-dye clothes feel crisp and edgy which act more as a print than a fusion of colour. The result is a trend that feels clean but organic, bohemian but tailored, nostalgic but contemporary. Tie and dye is making a comeback and is here to stay!
