KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court on Wednesday accepted the bail plea of accused Chand Khan Niazi and rejected the bail plea of accused Zakir Dada in the Arshad Pappu murder case.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Iqbal Kalhoro heard the bail pleas of the two accused. The court granted bail to Niazi against a surety of Rs0.5 million. The lawyer for the accused argued that two other accused in the case, Yousuf Baloch and Javed Baloch, are already out on bail. The investigation officer (IO) in the case argued that none of the accused should be granted bail until the main accused in the case, Uzair Baloch, is not presented before the court. At this the court remarked whether the IO could guarantee the presence of Uzair and eye witnesses at the next hearing. IO Yamin Gujjar said she could not do so. According to the joint investigation team's (JIT) report, Uzair confessed to taking revenge of his father's murder from Arshad Pappu.
SHC seeks report on illegal detention case
Prosecutor Sajid Mehboob Sheikh argued that the JIT report of Niazi is available in which Niazi confessed to kidnapping the deceased from Defence and handing him over to Uzair. The latter also confessed the same in his statement of 164. The lawyer for the accused maintained that the accused were not present when the incident occurred.
