Nawaz 'ultimate winner' in case of ‘blind vengeance’: Maryam Nawaz
Accountability court convicts Nawaz in Al Azizia and Hill Metal Establishment, acquits him in Flagship Investment
As former premier Nawaz Sharif heads off to jail, his daughter Maryam Nawaz reacted to the accountability court judgment lamenting “blind vengeance”.
In a tweet, Maryam said one individual [Nawaz] had been sentenced four times. Terming it a case of “blind vengeance”, she emphasised that the former prime minister was the ultimate winner as no corruption had been proven against him.
Nawaz sentenced to 7 years in jail in Al-Azizia reference, arrested from courtroom
“After two and a half years of vindictive accountability and interrogation of three generations, neither corruption, kickback nor misuse of national treasury could be proven [against Nawaz].”
"All the decisions pertain to the assets owned by Nawaz’s father. The verdicts were based on assumptions. Today’s decision has vindicated Nawaz’s honesty and righteousness."
Maryam reflected that the sentence will be over but her father’s honesty will live on. She said the burden of truth on the opposition will linger. “Power does not always last. It takes but a minute for fortunes to change. When an oppressor crosses all limits, he meets his end.”
“A government functions on its performance not by victimisation of opposition. It depicts the weakness of the government. Government officials begin their day by conjuring plans to target Nawaz. But Nawaz will come out stronger. He will be back!”
She further questioned that how many times would the court accuse the same person.
“How many times will you target the same individual? How many punishments? How many jail terms? The government is haunted by Nawaz. Your days are numbered,” she tweeted.
Nawaz's sentence
