Woman killed, man injured over marriage dispute
The victims were returning from a shrine in Mailsi Tehsil when accused Shahid intercepted them

In a bid to take revenge, a man gunned down a woman and injured her husband over a marriage dispute in Bahawalpur, Express News reported on Sunday.
An official from Qaimpur police station said that the victim’s father-in-law Zahoor Hussain, a resident of Basti Noor Muhammad Chohan, Moza Noorpur, submitted a complaint at the police station stating that he, his son Mujahid Hussain, daughter-in-law Zakia Bibi and several others went to the shrine of Makhdoom Shah Zakarya in Mailsi Tehsil.
He added that when they were returning from the trip, his nephew Muhammad Shahid, who was hiding in nearby fields and was armed with a pistol, intercepted them. He stated that the accused had a heated argument with his son and said he would kill him for marrying Zakia Bibi.
He stated that the culprit took out the pistol and opened fire on his son and daughter-in-law. Zakia Bibi was killed on the spot while Mujahid sustained critical injuries. He was immediately shifted to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect fled the scene after the incident. Police have registered a case No 319/18 against the accused at the police station and opened investigations.
Earlier, a man shot and killed his sister for marrying of her own will in Faisalabad.
Police said that Waseem Akhtar, a resident of Chak No 50-GB, married Kainat Bibi in court nine months ago. The two liked each other and married against the will of the woman’s family members.
On the day of the incident, Waseem, Tanveer Shahzad and Muhammad Irfan were present at his house, while his wife was working in the kitchen.
After some time, his brother-in-law Nasir Ali barged into the house and told the victim that she had brought disgrace to the family by marrying of her own will.
The accused took out a pistol and opened fire on Kainat Bibi, killing her on the spot.
