HYDERABAD:
The Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) President Ayaz Palijo led a protest march in Matiari district on Sunday, declaring that the time had come to protect Sindh's water, agriculture and natural resources. Leading the march, which moved through different parts of the district, he vowed that the people of Sindh will oppose Kalabagh dam and any other dam which robbed water from Sindh's share.

"Kalabagh dam is a message of death for Sindh," he said, pointing to the ever-increasing impact of drought in several parts of Sindh.
He flayed the alleged corruption and misrule of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the province and referred to a report by the Supreme Court-mandated Commission on Water and Sanitation Water. According to the report, sewage is contaminating fresh water in 18 districts of Sindh. "A government which has failed to provide clean drinking water, how can it provide education, health, food and shelter?"

Many large cities of Sindh have been turned into garbage heaps in the ongoing and third consecutive tenure of PPP's rule in the province, he added. Palijo also slated PPP leaders for playing the Sindh card whenever the judiciary or investigation agencies hold them accountable for their alleged corruption.

He said that the party's leadership attempts to create a perception that the PPP is the only representative of the people of Sindh and that no other political party enjoys public support. "The fact is that the people want to hold the PPP leaders accountable for every single penny they have stolen and for every crime they have committed."
The QAT's leader, who is also the general secretary of the Grand Democratic Alliance, blamed PPP for the financial woes of farmers and the decline in the growth of the agriculture sector. He urged the Supreme Court to take notice of the bad governance, corruption and crimes in Sindh.

Palijo demanded that Prime Minister Imran Khan should retract his statement on settling Afghan and Bengali illegal immigrants in Sindh, saying that the natives of Sindh will be reduced to a minority if the aliens are naturalised.

Commenting on the country's foreign policy, he said the state of Pakistan has started to refuse to follow the diktats of the global empire. "The global establishment doesn't accept Pakistan's cooperation with China, Russia and Iran."
