Vacant seats : Local government by-polls today
677,955 women and 892,438 men will exercise their right to vote

The provincial election commission has finalised preparations for the eighth local government bye-elections to be held on Sunday ( today ).
The polling will continue from 8am to 4pm. The election campaign ended at midnight on Friday.
The by-election is being held on 52 vacant seats of district councilors, 32 seats of town and tehsil councilors and 54 seats of village and neighborhood councilors out of which 44 seats are general, one women’s seat and six youth seats and three peasant seats .
The returning officer would announce the results of the polling next day on December 24.
As many as, 1.5 million voters would exercise their right to vote, out of which 6,77,955 are women and 8,92,438 are men A total of 1,255 polling stations have been set up among which 447 are for males and 387 are for females and 421 are combined polling stations. Overall 3,685 polling booths have been set up out of which 2,086 for men 1,599 for women.
The total number of presiding officers are 1,255 out of which 868 are for men and 387 for women Similarly, number of assistant presiding officers are 3,702 while 3,685 polling officers will perform duty on polling day.
The polling material was handed over to presiding officers on December 22. Use of mobile phones inside polling stations is prohibited. Complaints can be registered on telephone number 091-9222540 and 091-9222549.
