FAISALABAD:

A boy was reportedly subjected to sexual assault in Faisalabad’s People’s Colony area on Thursday.

A police official told Express News that the victim’s uncle A* submitted a complaint at the police station in which he stated that his nephew D* was returning home after attending tuition classes at a local institution situated on Jaranwala Road. He added that in the meantime, five unidentified culprits riding in a car abducted the victim and took him to an undisclosed location.

He maintained that the accused allegedly gang raped D* and later dumped him in an unconscious state on Canal Road and fled.

A* stated that the suspects also snatched cash and the mobile phone of his nephew.

Meanwhile, the police said that a case had been registered against the accused while further investigations were under way. The police maintained that efforts were being made to arrest the culprits and strict punishment will be awarded to them without discrimination.

Earlier, a 13-year-old boy was reportedly subjected to sexual assault in Rahim Yar Khan’s Ala Abad area.

The police said the victim’s mother H* submitted a complaint at the police station in which she stated that accused Khadim Hussain and his accomplices allegedly sexually assaulted his 13-year-old son A* after abducting him. She stated that the suspect escaped from the scene leaving the boy injured.

In recent months, cases of sexual abuse have been on the rise across Punjab. Despite these incidents occurring on a daily basis, the government’s counter measures have been largely disappointing. Most cases have been reported from Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujranwala and other parts of the province. The victims include women and minor girls or boys.

A report issued by NGO Sahil revealed that the highest incidents of sexual abuse involving children were recorded in Punjab. Earlier, Sahil executive director Manizeh Bano said the sexual exploitation of women and children across Punjab had been reported over many years.

She added hundreds of rape cases have been identified, but only a few victims have come forward to seek justice.
