Woman killed for failing to return money
Accused barged into Sughran’s house and abused her. After an argument, he opened fire on her
BAHAWALPUR:
A woman was shot dead over monetary dispute in Bahawalpur, The Express Tribune has reported.
An official of Cantt police station said the victim’s mother Noor Mai, a resident of Muhammadia Colony, submitted a complaint at the police station in which she stated that her 45-year-old daughter Sughran Bibi had borrowed Rs50,000 from Ameer Bakhsh two years ago.
She added that after taking the money, her daughter went to Saudi Arabia. She maintained that Sughran Bibi came to Pakistan one month ago and returned Rs30,000 to the suspect. Noor Mai stated that as her daughter was facing financial constraints and therefore could not pay the remaining amount.
The victim’s mother said that on the day of the incident, Ameer Bakhsh barged into Sughran’s house and abused her. She said the culprit demanded that she pay the remaining amount immediately.
However, she lamented that when Sughran Bibi refused to do so, the accused opened fire on her and fled the scene. As a result, she was killed on the spot. The police shifted the body to local hospital for completing legal formalities.
The Cantt police have registered a case No 413/18 against the suspect and conducted raids to arrest him.
Earlier, a man gunned down his married sister over family issues in Rahim Yar Khan.
Police said that Parveen Bibi had married Riaz a few years ago and the couple also had four children. Parveen Bibi had an argument with her husband over family matters. However, after a heated debate, the woman went to her parent’s house along with her children.
After a few days, Parveen Bibi went to her husband’s house without informing her brother and parents. This enraged the woman’s brother Rafique Ahmed who went to his sister’s house along with his cousin Shehzad Ahmed and two unidentified suspects who opened fire on her.
As a result, Parveen Bibi was killed on the spot while the accused managed to escape from the scene.
