Visiting dignitary expresses deep appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts, sacrifices in the war against terrorism: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Turkish Defence Minister General (retd) Hulusi Akar on Thursday called on Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on issues of mutual interest including defence and security cooperation between both the countries and the overall regional security situation.

According to a statement by Inter-Services Press Relations, the visiting dignitary expressed deep appreciation on behalf of Turkey for Pakistan’s efforts and sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

Earlier on arrival at the GHQ, the Turkish defence minister laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. On the occasion, a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented the guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.

On December 17, Prime Minister Imran Khan met the Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu and discussed bilateral ties with the visiting delegation. The meeting, held at Prime Minister Office in Islamabad, was also attended by State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi. Soylu conveyed felicitations on behalf of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to PM Imran for assuming office.
