A man was arrested late Thursday night for allegedly blackmailing a girl into marriage by threatening to post inappropriate videos and photos of her on social media, Express News reported.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber crime wing had received a complaint from Zareena, a resident of Lahore’s Baghbanpura, where she alleged that Arif, who lives in Karachi, was blackmailing her on the pretext of friendship.
She added that he threatened to upload inappropriate videos and photos of her if she did not accept his marriage proposal.
The authorities contacted the suspect using Zareena’s phone and told him to come to Lahore by telling him that she would marry him.
Upon his arrival to Lahore Railway Station, the FIA arrested Arif.
Arif had brought along his family members to Lahore who were sent back to Karachi after interrogation.
He has now been charged under the cyber crime act with inappropriate videos and photos of Zareena being found from him.
A probe into the matter is under way by FIA.
