KARACHI:
The Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Senate committee has called for legal cover for its faculty members as well as other medical professionals serving at Civil Hospital, Karachi (CHK). During the university’s fifth senate meeting, they expressed serious reservations about the security arrangements at CHK. DUHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Masood Hameed Khan sought the faculty’s support to help sustain its ongoing development programmes. In response to a submission made by a senior faculty member for a raise in the allowances of the clinical faculty members, he said they were short on money. The committee felt that funds must be increasingly diverted towards research as this was a major responsibility of a university-level institution. The VC also disagreed with another submission on no-objection certificates to faculty going on leave to serve at foreign institutions.
