Keeping records : Police launch black book of criminals
The book will maintain the names of all accused of illegal activities
KARACHI:
The Sindh Police will prepare and maintain a "Black Book" of accused. This Black Book will comprise the names of people who are accused of kidnapping, involvement in gang wars, harassing, robberies and other illegal activities.
According to sources, such a Black Book is being prepared in Sindh police for the first time.
Such books were only prepared in the province of Punjab. There is only a Red Book maintained by the Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department.
Sources told The Express Tribune that this Black Book will include the names of those accused whose head money has been fixed. It will not contain the names of criminals who are wanted in any terrorism cases because they become part of the Red Book. In addition to this, the ones accused of kidnapping, harassment, child abuse and affiliation with gangs will be included in the Black Book. The decision for including street criminals in the Black Book is under consideration.
Sources informed that Sindh Inspector-General (IG) Dr Kaleem Imam had already approved the decision regarding the Black Book before he went on a vacation.
However, Operations additional IG had been assigned the task to complete the job as soon as possible.
Sources further told The Express Tribune that after the task was assigned, the Operations AIG sent letters to deputy IGs and SSPs across the province and sought details of all such accused who could be added in the Black Book.
