Two women die of 'wrong injection' in Gujranwala
The condition of the new mothers deteriorated quickly and they died soon afterward

Two women died last after they were administered wrong injections in Gujranwala on Saturday, Express News reported.
The deaths took place in the jurisdiction of Cantt police station. The doctor, identified as Saima, administered injections to the two women, Iqra and Sidra. The condition of the new mothers deteriorated quickly and they died soon afterward. The doctor and other staff of the medical facility managed to flee from the scene after the deaths.
Taking notice of the incident, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has ordered the secretary health to conduct an investigation into the matter and sought a report in this regard.
Buzdar directed the authorities to determine the responsible behind the deaths and bring them to book.
Nearly a month ago, in the same city, a pregnant woman died after allegedly being given a wrong injection. Similarly, in October, a 40-year-old man died at a private clinic in Gujranwala after being given a wrong injection. A 60-year-old man had died in November after reportedly being given the wrong injection at a private clinic in Khanpur. Dar Muhammad, a resident of Chachran Sharif area, was suffering from fever. He went to a private clinic in the area which was run by Doctor Azhar Shah.
After examining the patient, the doctor administered an injection to him. However, after a few minutes, Dar Muhammad’s condition deteriorated and he passed away.
In a similar incident a few days back, a two-year-old boy died after being given the wrong injection at a private hospital in Rahim Yar Khan. The victim’s family protested against the incident and accused the doctor of negligence during treatment.
The victim’s father, Abdul Ghafoor, a resident of Basti Imam Nagar, said he and his family brought Ali Murtaza to Dr Khalid Hospital with minor pain.
In Sadiqabad, a four-year-old girl died after being given the incorrect injection at a private hospital. Speaking to Express News, the victim’s father Jandura said that he brought Safina Bibi to a local hospital in Ahmedpur Lamah after she had complained of pain.
“After a few minutes, my daughter’s condition deteriorated and she fell unconscious,” the father recalled. “She died in the hospital,” he lamented.
