Imran chairs high-level meeting on speeding up process

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday urged the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government to form a reform and implementation committee that also includes the provincial governor for every tribal district of the newly-merged tribal areas.

Charging a high-level meeting about the merger process of the erstwhile Federally-Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) at the Governor’s House, the prime minister asked the provincial authorities to speed up the process of providing better health, education and other facilities to the people.

The meeting was attended by Governor Shah Farman, Chief Minister Mehmood Khan, Finance Minister Taimor Jaghra, Prime Minister’s advisers Naeemul Haq and Iftikhar Durani, Chief secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, the inspector general of police and other officials.

During the meeting, the prime minister was briefed about the ongoing reforms process and development in the erstwhile Fata and the transfer of department from the Fata Secretariat, appointment of police force and others projects.



Imran urged the K-P chief minister and the governor to form a reform and implementation committee for every tribal district.

The committee, he said, would work under the governor and the chief minister, and include provincial ministers and elected representatives of every tribal district.

He also urged the governor and the chief minister to visit every tribal district and take tribesmen into confidence over the reforms after the merger.

The prime minister stressed that it was the provincial government’s responsibility to reconstruct the damaged infrastructure in tribal districts.
