ISLAMABAD: A botanical garden has been formally set up in Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) that will serve as a research-lab for students of the horticulture sector. “We are planning to plant around 100 medicinal saplings in the garden soon that will meet wide-ranging needs of academic research, said AIOU’s Horticulture Department Head Fozia Anjum. The botanical garden is part of the Green House that is maintained by the university’s gardeners on a regular basis. We are making it an exemplary one in line with the concept of Green Pakistan. The Green House also augments beauty and research environment of the university, she added. The botanical garden will have documented collections of living plants for the purpose of scientific research, conservation, display and education.
