Rescue 1122: Rs2.1b for emergency services

One allocation of Rs150 million is for the extension of emergency services to new tehsils.

LAHORE:
The Punjab government has allocated Rs2.1 billion to the emergency services for 2011-12, up from Rs2 billion the year before. The budget sets aside Rs849 million for three new projects, including Rs39 million for security measures at emergency rescue stations in Punjab and two block allocations. One allocation of Rs150 million is for the extension of emergency services to new tehsils. The other for Rs660 million is unexplained. A total of Rs1,251 million has been allocated for six ongoing schemes. The largest allocation of Rs479 million is for strengthening emergency services in 12 tehsils, while the smallest allocation (Rs10 million) is for establishing emergency services in major cities.
