CDA chief baulks at handing Sector G-14 land to FGEHF
Board defers decision, approves the allotment of plot adjacent to NIRM
ISLAMABAD:
The top executive of the civic authority of the federal capital baulked at a summary to hand over prime land in Sector G-14 to a housing scheme as the body’s board decided to defer its decision on the motion.
The issue came up during the 13th meeting of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) board on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by CDA Chairman Afzal Lateef at the authority’s headquarters.
The board took up a nine-point agenda during Tuesday’s meeting. The board approved six agenda items while it deferred a decision on three others.
Among the three decision deferred, one was on giving commercial land in Sector G-14/1, G-14/2 and G-14/3 to the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF).

While reviewing the summary, Lateef expressed his discontentment with the motion.
“How can the CDA transfer its assets to someone else,” an exasperated CDA chief remarked.
Sources say the market value of these plots is in the Rs50 billion range.
The board subsequently decided to defer its decision on the summary.
Of the agenda items which were approved during Tuesday’s meeting included amendments to the rules and regulations — determined in 1992 — for the promotion of nurses in the CDA Hospital.
The board also approved a motion to restore plot number one in lane 22 of Sector F-6/2, in light of directions from the high court.
The CDA’s apex decision-making body also approved a motion for collecting 50 per cent of the development expenditure for plot 559 in Sector E-12. The board also approved a motion to reschedule the remaining amount owed for plot 925 in Sector E-12.
The CDA board approved a move to restore plot six in Sector F-7/3. The board also approved a plot situated next to the National Institute of Health and Rehabilitation (NIRM) building in Sector G-8.
Issues on which the CDA board deferred decisions include changing their decision on the provision of government homes to public officials.
The other issue deferred was the allotment of plot 101 in Sector H-8 for the construction of the Gandhara Public School.
Anti-encroachment drive
The CDA has decided to launch an anti-encroachment operation in Sector E-12 to take retrieve its land which had been illegally occupied by the encroachers.
The CDA had launched E-12 in 1989 but officials say development work in the sector could not start due to the illegal occupation of land. A CDA official said that the authority’s Enforcement Directorate has now issued notices to all illegal land occupants in Sector E-12, directing them to vacate land by December 13.

The areas where CDA land is allegedly occupied illegally includes Dharik Mohri, Bhaikra Koh, Bhaikra Fateh Baksh, Bara Dari, Sari Saral and Golra.
The CDA official said that the illegal occupants have been warned to vacate state land or face legal action.
He added that they were focusing on retrieving and securing possession of land in all those sectors which are under illegal occupation so that these stalled sectors could be developed on priority to facilitate allottees.
Two years ago, the CDA had claimed to have retrieved possession of some 300 kanals of land in Sector E-12 after an operation to clear out illegal occupants two years ago.
