ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated on Tuesday that the government was committed to providing an enabling environment to all investors so that they could take benefit of existing opportunities in various sectors of the economy including exploration and production (E&P).

He stressed that the government was directing its focus towards improving the ease of doing business and facilitating the business community in every possible manner.

The prime minister expressed these views during a meeting with Eni Executive Vice President Central Asia Region Luca Vignati, who called on him at the Prime Minister’s Office. Eni is an Italian multinational oil and gas company.

Eni likely to grab bigger slice of Pakistan’s LNG market

The prime minister welcomed Eni’s interest in expanding its business and pointed out that a huge potential existed for E&P companies, especially the leading companies of the world, who could take advantage of growing energy needs of the economy and the presence of huge hydrocarbon reserves in the country, which had remained unexplored so far.

Vignati briefed the prime minister about Eni’s involvement in exploration and production of hydrocarbons in Pakistan since 2000.

“Eni Pakistan has invested in multiple projects for the development of local communities in areas where it has exploration and development/production licences,” he said. “It is mainly contributing to health, education, environment and socio-economic development.”

He shared that Eni was keen to further expand its business, especially in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and offshore exploration and production with latest technologies.
