Near Sara-e-Kharbooza: CDA, ICT demolish 42 buildings in joint drive

Several kanals of state land was retrieved from illegal occupants

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad District Administration (ICT)  conducted a joint operation to remove encroachment other illegal constructions on the right-of-way of Grand Trunk (GT) Road from the Sara-e-Kharbooza stop to Sangjani and demolished several buildings, plazas, markets and illegal constructions in the vicinity.

During the operation, as many as 42 illegally built shops, 26 rooms, two sheds, six gates, 13 boundary walls, five billboards, two hotels, nine washrooms, two containers and two two-storey offices — which had been constructed illegally on state land — were completely demolished. Several kanals of state land was retrieved from illegal occupants.

The Enforcement Directorate of the CDA along with officers from ICT and other concerned formations of the authority participated in the drive. A heavy contingent of police and the Anti-Riot Unit of ICT Police was deployed to cater to any untoward situation.
