Model Town vandal 'Gullu Butt' hugs Tahirul Qadri in SC premises
In 2014, Butt had vandalised private cars parked outside the premises in the presence of the police
Shahid, alias Gullu Butt – the handlebar-mustached vandal who damaged public property during Model Town riots, hugged Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri on Wednesday.
Qadri had arrived at the Supreme Court of Pakistan in connection with the hearing of the Model Town case, when Shahid shook hands with the cleric and then went on to hug him.
However, soon afterwards, the veteran politician's bodyguards managed to push Shahid away.
During an anti-encroachment operation outside the residence of Dr Tahirul Qadri in June 2014, Butt had vandalised private cars parked outside the premises in the presence of the police.
The acts of sheer vandalism and destruction of public property in broad daylight had sparked widespread criticism, with calls for taking the responsible to task.
