Army chief chairs meeting

RAWALPINDI:
Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani chaired the 129th Corps Commanders’ Conference on Thursday. The conference, held at the GHQ, is part of a series of regular monthly meetings.


According to ISPR’s website, “matters of professional interest were discussed.” The participants expressed satisfaction over the operational readiness of the Army. Online news agency, quoting sources, said that the Army chief gave participants a detailed briefing on the geo-strategic situation and matters relating to military operations in the tribal areas, rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected areas, national security and defence needs and capabilities. The participants also discussed the foreign media’s role in reporting details of the ongoing military action. The military exercise Azm-e-Nau 3 also came under discussion in the conference.
