Slain journalist laid to rest in Nowshera village amid protests

Noorul Hassan, a journalist who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Peshawar on Monday, was laid to rest in his native village of Shaido in Nowshera on Tuesday.
The funeral coincided with protests by journalists across the province.
Hassan was travelling along with his news crew on the busy Ring Road in Peshawar on Monday when their car was ambushed by unidentified assailants. The attack left Hassan dead while his colleague Sabir suffered serious injuries.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Inspector General Police (IGP) Salahuddin Mehsud took notice of the incident and ordered a detailed report into the matter. The Peshawar Capital City Police Officer was directed to personally oversee the investigation.
During his funeral on Tuesday, dozens of journalists from the province, political figures of the province and police forces.
Journalists in Swabi, Mardan and Nowshera protested against the attack on media professionals in the province.
