Soon after a man ran over by a speeding car while trying to save his son in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, social media hailed the father's selfless act as a "model of sacrifice and love".
In a heartwrenching footage that went viral, the child can be seen followed by his father as they attempt to cross a street in Asir, Khaleej Times reported.
Initially, the father can be seen losing his grip of his son's hand who runs across the street.
As his son starts to pass the second road, his father sees a speeding vehicle coming towards them and suddenly leaps forward to protect his son, according to the viral footage.

Moments later, the vehicle crashes into both of them, hauling the father metres away.
The two were shifted to hospital where the child remains in stable condition whereas the father is battling for his life.
