Akshay Kumar, Rajinikanth's '2.0' crosses INR1 billion at box office on day one
Film is a visual extravaganza with incredible special effects that were on par with Hollywood standards
The recently released Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0 was India's most expensive film to date. Directed by Shankar, the sci-fi project stars Amy Jackson as the female lead and released worldwide on November 29, 2018.
Although this production may not seem to be everyone's cup of tea, it still managed to have a massive opening at the box office, earning over INR20 million in Chennai alone on the first day of its release, reported India Today.
The latest development states that 2.0 crossed the INR1 billion mark worldwide on its first day. Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to reveal that the Hindi version of sci-fi film minted INR202.5 million at the Indian box office since its release.
Akshay Kumar's 3D film '2.0' cleared for release in Pakistan
Critics state that 2.0 is a visual extravaganza with incredible special effects that were on par with Hollywood standards. However, some think that the story written by Shankar wasn't up to the mark. The film imparts a universal message that the world is not just for humans but also for other living beings. It is the sequel to 2010’s Tamil film Enthiran and sees Kumar in the role of a villian.
2.0 still trails behind SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 though, which made INR1.22 billion in India alone on the day of its release.
