BNP-M condemns the incident, demands security for leaders

Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) candidate for PB-47 Turbat, Jameel Dashti narrowly escaped attempt on his life as unidentified miscreants attacked his convoy in Turbat on Friday.

According to a source, the suspected miscreants opened indiscriminate fire at Dashti’s vehicle, injuring one person. The injured was rushed to the district headquarter hospital for medical treatment.

The BNP-M leader was heading for election campaign when his vehicle came under attack, the source added.


IGP says law and order situation improved in province

Law enforcement agencies reached the spot as the investigation into the incident got underway.

BNP-M in a statement condemned the incident and urged the provincial government to provide security to the BNP candidates, saying that their opponents were wrong to think that they would be scared by the attack.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), by-elections in Turbat will be held next month. At least 15 candidates have submitted their nomination papers with the Election Commission Office to contest by-elections on PB-47 Kech scheduled for December 6.
