PESHAWAR:
Two members of the National Assembly, both members of Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), were on Friday taken into custody from the Bacha Khan International Airport.

Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir were arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after their names were found on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL). They had been nominated in a case registered against them in district Swabi.

A senior FIA official told The Express Tribune that Dawar has been released since his pre-arrest bail plea was granted by the court.

PTM denies expelling Mohsin Dawar, Wazir

However, he added, Wazir is still in the law enforcement agency's custody, and is being shifted to its headquarters in Hayatabad. He added that Wazir will be handed over to Swabi police.

In July, the PTM denied reports it had expelled two of its senior leaders –Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir – for opting to contest the upcoming elections.

The PTM emerged as a movement for the ones affected by the war on terror in the tribal areas, mainly South Waziristan. The organisation first surfaced following the killing of Waziristan’s Naqeebullah Mehsud by Karachi police in January.
