Scores of people blocked the Karachi-Quetta highway on Wednesday night in protest against the killing of a man during a dacoity in Mastung. The demonstration caused a massive traffic jam, causing hardship particularly for bus passengers.
The protesters chanted slogans against police over their failure to curb crimes and demanded that the inspector general and Kalat commissioner take action to arrest the murderers.
According to sources, Abdul Baki Bangulzai was going home on motorcycle on Wednesday when dacoits intercepted him. Upon resistance, the dacoits opened fire at him. Bangulzai died on the spot, while the attackers fled with his motorcycle.
After the incident, local people came out to protest on the highway along with the body. Mastung Deputy Commissioner Qaim Lashari reached the site along with police and held negotiations with the protesters
