ISLAMABAD:
The 15th annual sports gala of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) kicked off on Wednesday with students presenting a colourful flag march at the football ground in the men’s campus.
Earlier, the University's Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai and President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh inaugurated the event.
Dr Yasinzai said that education and sports go hand-in-hand to allow the youth to be engaged in constructive activities, a prerequisite to discard negative attitudes.
He said the goal of attaining academic excellence can be achieved through the proactive participation in studies, sports and extra-curricular activities equally.
Annual event: IIUI to kick off SPECTRA-18 today
He further said youth were representative of the positive future of Muslim Ummah, and they must be provided opportunities to take part in positive activities.
