PESHAWAR: Tribal district administration in Bajaur has named 75 check-posts after martyred Levies officials.

The renaming is in recognition of the sacrifice rendered by the Bajaur Levies Force in war against terrorism. Bajaur DC Usman Mehsood in a notification said: “it is in the recognition of the sacrifices rendered by the Levies Force while performing duty in Bajaur.”

So far 75 levies officials along with hundreds of tribesmen have sacrificed their lives while fighting terrorism from 2007 to 2018 in Bajaur. During these 11 years Bajaur’s local security and tribal elders have remained the main targets of militants. Bajaur district administration has decorated the Bajaur-Khar Road with pictures of prominent tribal elders, politicians and Levies men who were killed by militants.

The latest victim was Levies official Muhammad Riaz who died on November 25 of injuries suffered from IED attack on tehsildar vehicle. DC Usman Mehsood, besides other prominent people of the area, had visited Riaz’s home for fateha.
