PM takes notice of video showing empty immigration counters at airport

ISLAMABAD:
A Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) immigration officer along five other personnel have been suspended and transferred to Quetta for being absent during duty as Prime Minister Imran Khan takes notice on a citizen’s complaint on Pakistan Citizen Web Portal.

A passenger coming to Pakistan from abroad filmed an empty and immigration counter on video, highlighting the absence of immigration staff and uploaded it on the portal which was created by the prime minister.

The premier took notice and directed DG FIA to take action against personnel over carelessness on duty. DG FIA directed Deputy Director Immigration Kamran Ali to report headquarter and Asmatullah Junejo has been appointed deputy director airport immigration in his place.

According to issue notification FIA immigration’s ASI Tariq Mehmood, Muhammad Idrees, Muhammad Jibran, Qalb Abbas and Umar Zahoor have been suspended and transferred to Quetta.

According to sources, three international flights along with passengers reached at Islamabad New Airport from Britain, Qatar and Dubai last night but due to the absence of FIA immigration staff, many counters were empty due to which passengers had to face immense difficulties in immigration and long queues of passengers were formed due to the absence of FIA personnel.
