Ko Ko Korina: Singer Jigar Jalal trolls Coke Studio with ‘Goth Studio’



Ko Ko Korina is still all the rage especially after the recent surge in its popularity due to Ahad Raza Mir and Momina Mustehsan’s recent Coke Studio rendition of the song. The whole ordeal Inspired a Sindhi singer Jigar Jalal to come up with his own version that begins with him saying “If Ahad and Momina can sing Ko Ko Korina, why can’t Jigar Jalal?” The singer added his own verses to the song; teamed with his Sindhi accent the song has garnered a lot of attention and acclaim on social media.

A ‘Peaky Blinders’ film is in the works



According to Otto Bathurst, the director of the first three episodes of Peaky Blinders, the series is soon going to transition into a movie. In 2016, creator of the series, Steve Knight spoke about the idea of a movie, noting that there had been some discussions on the matter. He indicated that it could happen in the future while Cillian Murphy, who plays Thomas Shelby, did not seem to be ready for it quite yet.

Ralph Lauren knighted for service in fashion



Ralph Lauren is the first American fashion designer to be recognised with an honorary British knighthood. The insignia will be presented to him by a representative of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II during a ceremony next year. Antony Phillipson, British Consul General to New York and The Queen’s Trade Commissioner for North America acknowledged that Lauren has played a key role in forging transatlantic cultural and economic connections. “As creator and visionary of the Ralph Lauren brand worldwide, he has been a vanguard for the global fashion industry and American style for nearly half a century. In addition, monumental philanthropic efforts, especially in the realm of public health, cancer research and treatment in both the US and the UK, have led to benefits felt by citizens around the world” He added.

Trailer of ‘Durj’ is sure to send chills down your spine



The trailer for the upcoming film Durj was recently released and has been gathering attention since.  Directed by Shamoon Abbasi, the promo suggests the film is based on true events and revolves around cannibalism. Abassi himself is in the lead as a cannibal with actor Sherry Shah portraying the role of his love interest. While the release date hasn’t been announced, the movie has stirred up curiosity among the viewers.  Following the story of a cannibal on the run, Durj seems to be a promising project.

Two Pakistani authors nominated for DSC Prize for South Asian Literature



Two Pakistani authors; Kamila Shamsie and Mohsin Hamid have been shortlisted for DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. Shamsie’s seventh novel Home Fire and Hamid’s Exit West have been selected to compete against four other authors for the prize. Previously, the British-Pakistani authors were long listed for the prestigious Man Booker prize.

‘Game of Thrones’ final season’s release date announced



HBO’s hit Emmy-winning drama Game of Thrones will debut its eighth and final season starting in April. The network made the announcement in a trailer featuring footage from previous seasons of the costly battles that preceded the coming showdown for control of the fictional kingdom of Westeros. The network did not reveal a specific date for the final season’s premiere, but the series will run for six episodes.
