Authorities on Tuesday replaced the head of the Joint Investigation Tribunal (JIT) probing the murder of former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa sub-inspector police Tahir Dawar, Express News reported.

Chief commissioner Amir Ali Ahmed appointed DIG operations Faisal Ali Raja as the new chief of the seven-member probing team.

Earlier, CIA's superintendent police Gulfam Nasir Waraich was appointed to head the JIT, which also held a meeting on Monday.

Tahir Dawar was kidnapped last month from Islamabad, after which his body was recovered from Afghanistan.

On the same day, Prime Minister Imran Khan ordered an inquiry into Dawar’s abduction and killing.

The premier had tasked Afridi to oversee the inquiry and ordered the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to coordinate with Islamabad police in this regard.
