Butt says border city has highest number of CCTV cameras after Quetta

Balochistan Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohsin Hassan Butt on Saturday inaugurated the Safe City Project in Chaman city along the Afghan border in Killa Abdullah district.

District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Attaullah Shah briefed the guests in detail on the project, border security measures and issues related to police.

The DIG and other senior police officers were also present on the occasion.

The IGP and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Raziq Cheema inaugurated the control room set up in the Chaman city police station for 36 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed under the Safe City Project.

Fighting crimes: Public urged to cooperate with police


Talking to the media, the IGP said Chaman city and other important areas, including highways, would be monitored to help to curb terrorism and other crimes, including robberies.

Chaman was the second city in the province after Quetta where such a large number of CCTV cameras had been installed at sensitive locations, he added.

Butt said the security forces, including police, were playing a vital role for restoring peace in the province.

The IGP said all legal issues of police personnel would be addressed on a top priority basis for ensuring their better performance.

Moreover, 65 more constables had been recruited in the department, he added.
