Commission to review new master plan for Islamabad: Awan
Adviser to PM on CDA says govt to rehabilitate slum dwellers
RAWALPINDI:
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Capital Development Authority (CDA) Ali Nawaz Awan said on Saturday that the master plan of Islamabad was being reviewed.
A commission has been set up for the purpose of coping with changing requirements and making it relevant to present needs. While speaking at the "Meet the Press Programme" in Islamabad, he said that the commission would be headed by an expert and all the stakeholders would be included in it.
Not in the master plan: ‘Who granted permission for housing schemes?’
"Everything will be processed in a systematic manner," Awan said adding that PTI would not dislocate people till it completed the process of their rehabilitation.
He added that a rehabilitation plan would be introduced for the slum dwellers.
He said that Islamabad was the face of Pakistan and its master plan was designed for 600,000 people. "There are several challenges in converting it into a model city but this goal would be achieved as per vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan."
He stated that Islamabad was considered as being among the top 10 most beautiful capitals in the world.
Lahore is changing but surely not for good
Furthermore, he added that revolutionary steps were being taken for promoting the health and education sectors.
Awan said that the continuity of the local bodies would ensure a strong and stable democracy in the country.
He said that the previous government allowed land grabbers to occupy lands but the incumbent government had achieved significant success in vacating such lands.
He said that action would be taken against ‘Qabza’ mafia without any discrimination.
To another question, he stated that the present government had delivered in a short period which the previous governments could not do in decades.
