Drop scene: Missing CDA official found in DI Khan

Says he had lost his phone therefore could not contact family

ISLAMABAD: An official of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) who had reportedly gone missing on Thursday night, showed up in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday night, Express News reported.

Ayaz Khan Mehsud, 47, in a video message, said he was fine and with relatives in DI Khan.

He said that his cell phone had gone missing due to which he could not contact his family. Mehsud said propaganda against security institutions of the country was condemnable and such things should be avoided on social media.

Acting on orders of Islamabad IGP Aamir Zulfiqar, the SHO of Aabpara police station Tahir Niazi has left for DI Khan with a police party to bring back Mehsud, police sources said adding that the CDA official would be interrogated at the precinct about this sudden disappearing and reappearing act.

Mehsud’s brother-in-law had filed a report with the Aabpara police that he had not reached home from office and his phone was also switched off.

Giving the sensitive nature of the situation a day after body of Peshawar Rural SP Tahir Dawar was recovered from Afghanistan after he was kidnapped from Islamabad about 10 days ago, panic was a natural phenomenon.

Islamabad IG Aamir Zulfiqar had directed quick action on the report. Islamabad police immediately got an investigation tam together ans started efforts to trace the deputy director.

Police officials had also contacted Mehsud’s wife assuring her of every possible effort in locating her husband.

Missing govt official: SHC issues notices to law enforcers

Mehsud had left his office on Thursday 2:30pm and last contacted his family at 8pm Thursday night. He informed his wife that he was going out with someone and would return late. When he did not return, his wife approached Aabpara police station through her brother on Friday morning.

Hailing from Waziristan, Ayaz is a father of six. His father is a retired Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) official. He was working on Khanpur Water Supply Project for CDA.
