Load shedding: SHC issues notices to KE, others
Petitioner Karamat Ali's lawyer said that the court order of May 22, 2018 was being violated
KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court issued notices on Friday to K-Electric (KE) and others on a plea requesting for immediate contempt of court proceedings against National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) and KE over unannounced load shedding. Petitioner Karamat Ali's lawyer said that the court order of May 22, 2018 was being violated.
He said that the officials of KE and Nepra are not complying with court orders. The lawyer argued that the court had ordered Nepra to take action against KE but unannounced load shedding was still being carried out which is contempt of court.
He pleaded that contempt of court proceedings should be initiated against KE and others. The court issued notices to the respondents and ordered them to submit their comments by November 28.
