Man attacked with acid for ‘texting’ a girl in Burewala

Junaid had an argument with Usama for sending ‘text messages’ to his sister

A man suffered severe burn injuries when motorcycle riders threw acid on him for allegedly sending text messages to a girl in Burewala. The incident occurred in City police station precincts.

A police official said that Muhammad Usama, a resident of Satellite Town, was on his way to I Block, Civil Lines area, for some work when Junaid and his accomplices intercepted him. He added that after an argument, the culprits threw acid on the victim and fled the scene. As a result, Usama suffered critical burn injuries to different parts of the body.

He was immediately rushed to Tehsil Hospital for medical aid. Later, he was referred to Nishtar Hospital for further treatment. Doctors at the health facility said that the victim suffered severe burn injuries to the chest and face. They said the patient’s eyesight and vision had also been affected by the acid attack.


Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the victim and claimed to have arrested a suspect. The police said that Junaid was nabbed during a raid on a hideout.

Usama told the police that Junaid accused him of sending text messages to his sister. He added that they had an argument over the matter and in a fit of rage, Junaid and his accomplices threw acid on him.

Further investigations are under way.

Earlier, a woman died after being attacked with acid in Gojra. The husband of the deceased and her two children were injured in the attack that occurred in Gojra Saddar 92-JB. Relatives of the deceased said the suspect, a neighbour, forcibly entered the house and threw acid on the family.

They said they had a longstanding dispute with the man.
