ICCI expects tax base to widen
Welcomes the government’s decision to separate the FBR's tax collection and policymaking functions
ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Ahmed Hassan Moughal welcomed the government’s decision to separate the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) tax collection and policymaking functions and termed it a positive development as it would instill confidence in taxpayers and widen tax base of the country. “Prime Minister Imran Khan, during the election campaign, promised the nation that if his party was voted to power, it would undertake drastic reforms in the FBR,” Moughal said. “The federal cabinet’s decision to separate revenue collection from tax policy formulation is a step in the right direction because it will promote equity and transparency in the tax machinery.”
