RAWALPINDI: Like other parts of the country, preparations to celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) are underway in Rawalpindi and adjoining areas with full religious zeal and fervour.

Arrangements are being finalized to celebrate the occasion in a befitting manner on November 21, with a number of programmes chalked out.

Like every year, the government and religious organizations have planned a number of activities to celebrate the annual event.

The federal government has decided to officially celebrate the month of Rabiul Awal, this year.

As per tradition, Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) will see around 350 large and small processions being held in different parts of the city.

The main procession for Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) will be taken out on the morning of Rabiul Awal 12 from Bunni Chowk. After passing through from Circular road, Waris Khan, Murree Road, Committee Chowk, Iqbal road, Fowara Chowk, Raja Bazaar, it would culminate at the central Jamia Mosque in Rawalpindi.

Another large procession is expected to take place in the Cantonment area of Rawalpindi. It will start at Chungi no 22. After passing through its traditional route, it is expected to circle back and culminate at the starting point.

Different naat committees in the city are organizing naat competitions to celebrate Rabiul Awal 12.

Meanwhile, the district administration is finalising plans for ensuring the security of the faithful on Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH).

7,000 cops to guard over 440 processions, 1,900 gatherings

The district administration plans to bar the entry of tractor trolleys, trucks and other heavy vehicles on the routes of the main procession.

Moreover, it has also been decided that Ulema, scholars and people belonging to all sects of life will play their role in maintaining law and order and foil the nefarious designs of miscreants.

The city district government will also set up a control room for the surveillance of the processions and reviewing security arrangements.

All city streets and roads, including bazaars and shopping centres, have already been decorated with colourful lights.

Moreover, ‘light gates’ — metal gates covered in lights — will be erected on all major roads and streets in connection with Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) celebrations.

At night, all private and public buildings are beautifully illuminated with coloured lights to express jubilation over the sacred day.
