The accountability court on Friday allowed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit new documents in the Flagship reference against former premier Nawaz Sharif, Express News reported.
The plea by the anti-graft body was accepted by Judge Arshad Malik. During the hearing, the defence questioned why the said documents were not submitted earlier when DG NAB had appeared as a witness.

Responding to Nawaz's counsel, Khawaja Harris, NAB prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi maintained that the supplementary reference entailed that documents shall be submitted only after receiving answers from the British authority.

Before accepting NAB's plea, the bench asked why these documents are being submitted eight months later, observing that the accountability watchdog had not specified the relationship between the documents and the case.
In addition, the court also accepted Nawaz's plea to be exempted from appearing in court over security concerns.
