Places to visit:
• Cloud Gate “The Bean”: located within the heart of Millennium Park. This is a popular tourist spot and a great place for many activities.
• The Skydeck Chicago: This is at the top of the Willis Tower. Another famous Chicago tourist spot with the view of the whole city from 1,353 feet above. I recommend going a little early because the lines can be long. If you do not purchase a speed pass prepare to wait up to 2-3 hours. This spot is worth the wait to see the Chicago skyline.
• Navy Pier: Admission is free so make sure to spend on the speed boat ride, because it is worth it. The Ferris Wheel is also a great way to see an aerial view of the city.
• Lincoln Park Zoo: Admission is free here as well. I recommend visiting the Zoo during Christmas time for a spectacular show of the “Zoo Lights”.
• Chinatown Chicago: This is a great place to see the Chinese community and collect souvenirs.
• Shedd Aquarium: The Shedd is a cool place to see some interesting marine life.
Activities to do:
• Stroll alongside the Chicago river on the Riverwalk.
• Relax at the North Avenue Beach and admire Lake Michigan.
• Ride bicycles around the city with Divvy.
• Explore the downtown loop area.
• Visit Magnificent Mile/Michigan Avenue for an upscale shopping experience or visit State Street if you don’t want to splurge on high-end brands.
• Watch a play at The Goodman Theatre.
• Visit Dave & Buster’s for arcade games.
• Find one day classes like painting, pottery dance, etc.
Places to eat:
• Giordano’s, Lou Malnati’s or Pizano’s: You must visit any one of these places for the Chicago original deep dish pizza.
• Geja’s Café: This is the most romantic restaurant in Chicago, which is famous for its fondue dining experience.
• Alhambra Palace: If you’re looking for an upscale halal restaurant with live entertainment, you can’t go wrong with this place.
• Devon Street: If you miss Tariq Road then you should visit Devon Street and find several halal desi food options with a lot of stores to shop from. Some of our local favourites are: Sabri Nehari, Usmania, or Karahi Corner.
• AraOn: This is a hidden gem in the loop and definitely worth the visit if you enjoy sushi.
• Portillo’s: This is a stylish spot with lots of old-school themed indoor decorations. While you’re there, should try their chocolate cake.
