LAHORE:
The top accountability watchdog has summoned Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Hamza Shehbaz and his brother Salman Shehbaz on Nov 9 to appear before its team probing into their father Shehbaz Sharif’s alleged assets beyond his means.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has asked the two to appear before its combined investigation team (CIT) and to record their statements in connection with the inquiry it announced last week.

During its investigation into Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme case, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz had said his son Salman looked after his financial affairs. Later, NAB initiated a case of assets beyond means against Salman and constituted a committee to probe the matter.

NAB later decided to initiate an inquiry against Shehbaz, who is also the leader of opposition in the National Assembly and is already in the NAB custody in connection with its probe into Ashiana scandal.

Hamza and Salman have already been summoned by NAB in other cases including Ramzan Sugar Mills and Saaf Pani Company cases. However, both of them had earlier ignored the last NAB summons. Salman had flown abroad while Hamza had not appeared before CIT in Ramzan Sugar Mill case.
