PESHAWAR:
Officers of the provincial cadre in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) bureaucracy continued their protest for the sixth consecutive day across the province. The protest was in support of their demands from the government. Officers of the provincial management services (PMS) and provincial civil services (PCS) have been wearing black bands during office hours across the province to register their protest.

These officers are demanding representation in the federal task force formed for civil services reforms in the country by the Prime Minister Imran Khan, under the supervision of State Bank of Pakistan former governor Ishrat Hussain. Their demands also include annulment of apportionment formulae 93 on which the seats are distributed between the officers of the PMS/PCS group and the officers of the Pakistan Administrative Services (PAS) group in the provinces. The PMS/PCS officers across the country are against the apportionment formula 93 which was formed in 1993 by caretaker government of the prime minister at that time Moeenuddin Ahmad Qureshi. They are also demanding from the government to fill 200 vacant positions by promoting those who are already serving as junior PMS Officers in the province.

The association of the PMS/PCS officers in the province held a meeting on Monday in Peshawar in which it was discussed that they have not been contacted by anyone from the government yet despite their protest’s sixth day. The association says that their protest is in connection with the protest of All Pakistan PMS Officers Association which has been protesting across the country in all provinces.
