QUETTA: The Balochistan governor has said the provincial government is endeavouring to provide all necessary facilities in hospitals to cope with brain diseases.

“Brain disorders are common in our society due to cultural heritage problems,” said Governor Justice (retd) Amanullah Khan Yasinzai at the inaugural session of the 18th Neurology Update Meeting on Friday. The moot was organised by the Bolan University of Health Sciences.

Over 140 delegates from all over the country were in attendance.
During the vital event, leading neurologists exchanged experiences to deal with brain disorders.

The governor noted that there were certain difficulties being confronted by the government in providing sufficient funds, but assured the participants that every effort was being made to help the people of the health sector.

“It is heartening to note that now CT Scan Machines and MRI facilities, including ventilators, are available at hospitals,” said the governor, adding that people of the province, particularly of the far-flung areas, were not in a position to undergo expensive treatment of brain disorders.

Yasinzai urged neurologists to come forward and help the needy people, assuring them that the government was ready to provide all possible cooperation in ensuring a healthy society in the province.

He appreciated the Bolan University of Health Sciences for organising such a vital moot and assured full cooperation on behalf of the government.

Speaking on the occasion, Organising Committee Chairman and Bolan Medical Complex Quetta Neurology Department head Prof Muhammad Saleem Khan Barech said that the conference was being held at a time when there was a big leap in the field of neurology.

“We (experts) together can share our rich experiences and come out with remedies to deal with brain disorders in the most effective manner,” said Barech.

He stressed upon the experts not to go for cheaper options if the patients were poor. “You should treat them keeping in mind that majority of the patients can afford expensive treatment,” he added.
He also called upon neurologists and all stakeholders to create awareness among the masses for adopting preventive measures against brain diseases, saying “prevention is better than cure”.
