Sufi Mohammad indicted in two cases

PESHAWAR: A special anti-terrorism court in Peshawar has formally indicted Sufi Mohammad, chief of the banned terrorist organisation - Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Muhammadi.

Special court judge Aasim Imam delivered his verdict in two cases and indicted Sufi Mohammad. The hearing was held in a special court set up in the Peshawar Jail.

Hearing of two other cases has been adjourned until June 27 due to absence of the authorities concerned.

Muhammad was arrested by authorities in July last year from Peshawar. He had pursued demands for imposition of his own version of Sharia in Malakand division for almost two decades.

Courts cannot do any thing against them. Present courts and the prosecution system does not have the capacity and skills to handle structured crimes. The method of proving by old system of witnesses is too dangerous for any one to come forward and stand as a witness against a pack of terrorists who have the capacity to challenge state institutions and international forces. Repeatedly the terrorists are caught after the act of terrorism, produced in the courts, released due to lack of witnesses and rejoin the group to restart his terrorists act with more confidence from where he had left. If any of the terrorists dies in a shoot out, all the human right groups (one sided) are there to condemn the law enforcing institutions.
sars | 13 years ago | Reply the sad thing is that if they (god forbid) kill the judge, the govt will only "condemn" the act.The media needs to not give out so much info, so that hard decisions can be taken A hard line needs to be taken with all these trouble makers, militants and propogaters of polio and other plagues (including themselves) amongst their own people.
