Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage
How would you describe your body type?
I would say I am tall with a narrow face and waist. In literal terms, I am a toned down taller version of a pear shaped body.
Has your body changed over the last five years?
Well yes, a lot! I’ve gained 8kgs in five years but I am very comfortable in my body. However, I still aspire to be leaner and wish to gain more muscle.
How has your style changed over the years?
I have gone through a lot of transitional phases; from being a fashion marketing student, to a wife and a mother. My maternity fashion wear was of course different from what I wear now. When I first stepped into the corporate world it brought some changes in my personal style. Overall my personal style is a combination of contemporary chic and high street mixed with luxury!
How do you dress your body according to your body type?
I wear clothes which accentuate my waist and do not bring attention to the bottom. I love using belts and prefer wearing culottes, dresses and skirts with tucked in tops. I like loose silhouettes in eastern wear, it makes me look thin!
In your opinion what is your most troublesome area?
My thighs; whatever I eat, goes to my thighs!
In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here?
There is no right or wrong way of dressing as far as you are comfortable in what you wear. However, I do feel wearing off shoulder wedding gowns in a mosque is off putting!
Which silhouettes suit your body the most?
Collar shirts, crop tops, cold shoulder blouses, belted skirts, loose pleated bottoms and tailored pants.
What is the one piece of clothing you shy away from wearing and why?
That would definitely be white denim with a crop top. A person who does not diet or exercise can never escape from looking fat in a white denim and crop top combo.
