Power couple Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza have welcomed their first child together. The former captain of Pakistan cricket team made the announcement in a tweet early Tuesday morning.

My child will not have Pakistani or Indian nationality: Shoaib Malik

"Excited to announce: Its a boy, and my girl is doing great and keeping strong as usual #Alhumdulilah," he said.

The couple has named the baby Izhaan Mirza Malik, reported The Quint. The cricketer thanked fans for wishes prayers. The couple have been married for eight years.

Sania's sister Anam took to Instagram to announce the baby's birth.

The sports couple had announced their first pregnancy in April. The pair took to their respective social media accounts and posted an illustration of a locker room, stating their surnames.

The parents-to-be had later shared that their child will not have Pakistani or Indian nationality. They also decided that their child would have Mirza Malik as the surname.
